Palazzo Florio, the villa of the rich lords of Favignana

The palace of the Florio family became Favignana’s gathering place, where Ignazio Florio the younger and Donna Franca used to invite their friends for parties during the final phases of the tuna fishing.
A jewel of architecture of both neo-gothic and liberty styles, it evokes the atmosphere from the “The Leopard”, images of sophistication and elegance.

Indeed during the years of the Belle Époque, half of Europe’s crowned heads passed through these halls, such as the Empress Eugenie and the Duke of Aosta.
Today it is the home of the Council and the city library, as well as the information point for tourists, and it also hosts a small seashells collection with free entrance.
